Blog Intro

Hello out there!  Welcome to my new blog--well, really my first and currently only blog.

I am currently addicted to the game of MathDice :)!  I was greatly distressed, however, by the scant (read extremely in here :o) choice of board games available for download and I could find none for sale except the original MathDice game, which I already had.  (For those of you familiar with MathDice, I was especially upset that not even one Scavenger Hunt game was available to examine, let alone buy.)

I worked with what I had while continuing to search for other games both on the web and in local stores.  I found the Solo Practice Sets quite enjoyable and am still in the process of working through them all.  After several months of these, I began to feel confident enough with the MathDice concept that I created a Beginner Scavenger Hunt game to play.  That is when I fell in love with the idea of creating my own 'Solitaire Challenges,' as I call them.

All this searching for games started me thinking though.  If I, who am retired with all this free time on my hands, had so much trouble coming up with games, what do far busier parents and teachers do?  The kids read ABOUT Scavenger Hunt challenges online.  Surely at least some of them would want to play some, but when there are none to be found...?  That is when I got the idea for this blog. :)

In here I hope to inspire, if I'm fortunate enough to be able to do so, some ideas in any of you who might be searching as I was.

If you are unfamiliar with MathDice (and maybe wondering what all this is about) I suggest you check out www.mathdice.com for the 411.  In a nutshell, though, MathDice is a fun, challenging game invented by ThinkFun.com to improve mental math calculations through play.
